This wine is made of 100% Blatina, an indigenous grape of Hercegovina region. The Blatina grape is a very interesting grape; needs to be planted next to other wine varietals otherwise (as this is a female flowering vine) will never develop into berries. This beautiful signature of black cherry, chocolate dust, Oaxacan simmering, scent of Thyme, rose garden, rose petal and earth. Low alcohol – 12% and is a perfect wine to pair with Indian and Mexican foods and certainly enjoyable to drink by itself.

All wines are produced and packaged by the Citluk Winery www.herzegovinavino.com which is the largest producer and the largest exporter of wine from BiH. The winery was founded in 1957. It was part of the state owned agricultural association of producers for over fifty years than privatized in 2002. The winery is well known for its long tradition and production of high quality wines. It owns 400 hectares of vineyards located near UNESCO Protected Town of Mostar, the town of Citluk and small village of Medjugorje, a well-known and popular site of Catholic pilgrimage due to reports of alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary to six local children.

Selected vineyard positions and favorable microclimate, respect for tradition and continuous modernization result in wines of distinctive flavors, full bodied and with harmonious taste. Wines Baltina, Vranac, Plavac, and Zilavka are the perfect expression of indigenousness varieties found only in this region. This wine is made of 100% Zilavka, a native grape of the Herzegovina region which has a Mediterranean climate and a limestone rich soil. The wine exudes soft, discreet aromas of citrus blossom and lemon peel, with just a hint of linden blossom. Refreshing and juicy, the palate expresses light tones of white currant and white peach. This wine is made of 100% Vranac, a kingpin grape of the Herzegovina region, closely related to Zinfandel and Primitivo. This elegant wine was matured in oak barriques to accentuate its firm, refined structure. After young wine is stored in brand new small oak barrels ( 225 l)  for 2 to 2.5 years, it matures in bottle for 6 more months.

Soft mineral and raspberry scents with a s​light whiff of wild rose come through on the nose, while the palate uncovers tones of raspberry, rose hip, red currant, a touch of olive, and a slight hint of salty spice. Very minerally with harmonious acidity and beautiful wood integration. 
The bold character and vitality of the Vranac grape reminds us of that formidable warship of yesteryear. In honor of this, we call our barique version of this wine Liburna, Warship of the Illyrians. This full bodied wine is perfectly paired with steaks or game dishes. Pure drinking pleasure. 750 ml Alc. 13% By Vol.

This wine is made of 90% ZILAVKA and 10% BENA, indigenous grapes of the sun washed Herzegovina region. Clean and refreshing, showing elegance and flavors of green apples, lychee and honey, scents of chamomile and verbena with a slight mineral tone. The ripe, warm flavors of apricot, star fruit and a hint of anise are coddled by juicy acidity, fine minerality and a long herbal-toned finish. Best paired with white meat dishes and seafood. In this wine, vanilla, blueberry and sweet marzipan aromas are revealed. Supporting the juicy acidity are flavors of blackberry and cream, red plum, black currant and mulberry. Blatina variety, has a functional female flower, rendering it auto-sterile, meaning it requires other varieties to be planted nearby in order to pollinate and allow fruits. Blatina produces a delicious dry red wine with a dark, ruby red color.  It opens gradually on the nose with soft aromas of black currant and elderberry and a hint of liquorice. The palate reveals full, fresh notes of dark berries, traces of dried figs, roasted almonds, ripe plums and chocolate, with an undertone of minerality and a savory dash of saltiness.
